JOB PURPOSE: The Sr. Virtualization Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, provisioning and maintenance of RAC’s Vmware infrastructure and all of its components (Software and Hardware). Working closely with the Architecture team, this individual will provide guidance and support for infrastructure projects involving or depending upon the Vmware environment. This individual will provide guidance to other staff members on patches, upgrades, and maintenance policies and procedures.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Sr. Virtualization Engineer will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Vmware, including ESXi, NSX and all components of the Vrealize suite.
  • The Sr. Virtualization Engineer will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Cisco UCS Hardware platform.
  • The Sr. Virtualization Engineer will work closely with the Engineering and Operations staff to ensure the smooth operation of RAC’s Vmware infrastructure and establish Operational Best Practices.
  • The Sr. Virtualization Engineer will act as a 3rd tier support escalation point.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sr. Virtualization Engineers require a deep level of expertise across a broad range of Virtualization, Networking, Server and Operating System technologies.
  • Sr. Virtualization Engineers must have experience in developing specifications, logical and physical designs, bills of material and implementation of Enterprise Infrastructure projects.
  • Certification in Vmware is essential: VCP required, VCAP preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Technology positions is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as Senior Systems Engineer is preferred.
  • Experience working with and designing hybrid (On-Premise and Cloud) infrastructures is preferred.
  • Experience working with and designing large scale (2500+ VMs) Vmware infrastructures is preferred.
  • Experience in large, complex and agile environments is preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task, be highly organized, and work independently is required.
  • Sr. Virtualization Engineers must have Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent work experience required.
