Position: Global Commercial Data Manager

Location: Boston, MA

Duration: 6+ Months

The Global Commercial Data Manager will serve as the primary manager and expert of all third party customer and product data purchases for Shire across all business units and regions. In addition, the lead is responsible for US, International, and business units data acquisition, governance, and management. The lead will also be responsible for standard reporting, ad hoc data pulls and ensuring that all global data analytics teams have their data needs met.

This position will serve as the main contact for IMS and other third party data vendors and will work with brand, business units, regional, and corporate leaders to ensure the appropriate data is available for use.

This position will bring value to Shire by ensuring data are available and reducing redundant data purchases by having a view of all data purchases. This role will also be responsible for ensuring awareness and understanding of how to use available data sources. This person will be responsible for setting up appropriate trainings, meetings, and webinars with internal stakeholders.

The role will be an integral part of ensuring compliance globally, as it directs efforts to ensure corporate compliant systems are developed and maintained and that the information maintains the appropriate level of integrity to comply with Local country laws and guidelines for data management.

The lead must understand and ensure the core data systems and processes required to support the needs of the US, International Regions, Business Units and Local Operating Companies.

This lead will report into the Global Data Management Team based in the US and will be expected to collaborate with counterparts based in the US as well as internationally. More specifically, the lead will work closely with the International Procurement Lead, International Commercial Data Manager as well as cross functional peers (CRM Manager, MDM Manager, Digital Marketing Lead). In addition, the lead will have a team of data analysts (full time and contractors).

Responsibilities

30% Vendor Management—Serve as the primary contact for data vendors to ensure data are provided in a timely and cost effective manner. Work closely with procurement and purchasing departments to drive value and ensure appropriate service is provided by the vendor. In addition the Global Services Data Manager will ensure all data purchases are efficient, cost effective and delivered to the data consumer in a timely manner.


30% External Data Management—Maintain a current and accurate inventory of data purchased by Shire to ensure efficient access for all departments. Serve as a leader and partner with procurement during data contract renewal process. Consistently review data inventory to ensure data deliverables are current and highlight when contracts need renewal. Create and maintain processes and standards to reduce repurchasing of data already owned by Shire.

20% Data User Management—Work with data users in various departments, including marketing, sales, finance, and investor relations, to help provide insight into data purchasing processes and needs. Through these interactions, help them anticipate their data needs to drive additional value in the work they do. Work with and train data consumers to ensure they have appropriate credentials to access data when and how they need. Train data super users so they can self-service access data via online data portals and analytic tools.

20% Leadership & Management—Manage a team of outsourced contractors and analysts. Drive effective operational processes for ad hoc data requests, third party agreements (TPAs). Ensure analysts are delivering effective, efficient and valuable deliverables to the Business Units and data consumers.

Education and Experience Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree plus 5-7 years related pharmaceutical or vendor partner experience, or over 8 years of experience working in sales operations, marketing operations, market research or related pharmaceutical functions.

Minimum 5 years of experience in sales operations and business support required

Experience with management of pharmaceutical data vendors such as IMS and deep knowledge of pharmaceutical commercial data and experience working with the data.

Experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry and knowledge of pharmaceutical sales and marketing data is essential.
